About the Hillbarn Conservatory

YEAH!
At Hillbarn, we believe the need for artistic experience, whether as artist or audience member, is universal.
In September 2000, we formed the Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory YEAH! (Youth Embracing Arts at Hillbarn) Program at the Hillbarn Theatre as a way to fulfill the need for artistic experience for the youth in Foster City and the mid-peninsula area.
The Hillbarn Conservatory’s YEAH! program is. . .
. . . an in-depth training ground for young people, age 4 to 18, who want to learn the many aspects of theatre performance.
. . . a fun, safe, supportive, professional environment where students acquire valuable life skills thru immersion in the performing arts.
. . . a program for all students of the performing arts, including marginalized and developmentally disabled youth.
. . . a provider of successful outreach programs in the area, offering arts education to local schools, in the form of classes and fully-staged productions.
. . . a place where amateur performers and technical theatre artists, when led by our staff of trained professionals, produce performances of high quality that generate personal and artistic growth and are something to be proud of.
OUR MISSION:
Hillbarn Conservatory YEAH! is committed to. . .
. . . being a viable option to schools in the Foster City and mid-peninsula community for education in the performing arts, as we see the arts being cut from the schools’ curriculum and extra-curricular offerings.
. . . fostering a community of performing arts patrons, as well as performers — to introduce and build appreciation for the arts to the future generation.
. . . finding ways in which our efforts can give back to the community in Foster City and the surrounding areas.
